Right click on the Steam shortcut, go to Properties and in the Target box add -nofriendsui after the shortcut location, also do remember to have a space between 1) Try changing game versions back and forth. 2)This might not be so good method so this might as well be tried last - reinstalling game. 3)Maybe try making the folder by yourself.
