Itested this tonight and put both Watch and iPhone on a Do Not Disturb focus mode. That means no notifications allowed. In the morning, the Watch battery was reduced by 10%. 10% battery drained for just staying dark, unused on the shelf. Take it off charge, Turn it OFF - hold in side button til you see the sliders and tap the tiny off button, top right. Confirm off with slider. In the morning turn it back on and it should be at least 95%.
